Considered fundraising recruitment for UK charities.

Why we exist

Fundraising recruitment is its own discipline. The shortlist matters more than the volume. The cause-fit, the cultural alignment and the sector commitment decide whether a Trusts manager or a Head of Fundraising is still in seat at six months. Generalist agencies treat charities like any other category and miss the signals.

Bamboo Fundraising Recruitment was set up to fix that. We are a UK permanent recruitment partner with one belief at the centre of the desk: a hire only works if the cause and the candidate both feel served. The charity gets a brief taken seriously, a shortlist delivered on time and a consultant who knows the sector. The fundraiser gets the truth about the cause, the team and the trajectory.

What we do, plainly

We place permanent fundraising professionals for UK charities and not-for-profits across ten specialisms. Our desk is built around hires that stay - the brief, the vetting, the offer support, the day-7 / 30 / 90 follow-ups - every step geared toward six-month outcomes.

The roles we place most often:

  • Major Donor Fundraising
  • Trusts & Foundations
  • Corporate Partnerships
  • Community Fundraising
  • Individual Giving
  • Legacies and In-Memory
  • Digital Fundraising
  • Events Fundraising
  • Stewardship and Supporter Care
  • Heads of Fundraising and Directors

Who we work for

Our clients are UK national charities, regional charities, hospices, mid-size NFPs, education-sector charities, faith-based organisations and grant-making trusts. Sizes range from a single fundraiser charity to large national operations.

How we vet

Every candidate goes through:

  • Right-to-work verification
  • Reference contact (current and previous fundraising line manager where possible)
  • Verifiable track record (income raised, retention, partnership wins as relevant)
  • A structured competency conversation, scenario-tested where the role calls for it
  • Salary expectations, notice period, motivation captured in writing
  • Cause-fit check: why fundraising, why this charity, why now

How we think about a placement

A successful placement is not a CV submission. It is the moment six months later when the new fundraiser is still in seat, still hitting their targets, and still committed to the cause. That is the only outcome that matters to us.

Our values, the short version

  • Sector-only desk. We do not place outside fundraising. The focus shows up in the shortlist.
  • Tell the truth. If the salary is below the going sector rate, we will say so. If the candidate is not the right cultural fit, we will not pretend they are.
  • One throat to choke. One consultant per client, end to end. Holiday cover briefed properly so nothing slips.
  • Stand behind the work. Free replacement period on every placement. No small print.
  • Cause-fit first. Sector commitment is screened for, not assumed.
